Old school lens test

Awhile back my interest in film cameras lead me to adopt some of the older non-digital lens into my digital workflow. Now, some of you may now this already but I was completely astonished when I found out that a cheap conversion could be made by ordering an adapter from ebay. Just look up "eos adapter" and there will be tons of options to choose from.

So, on to the test. Keep in mind that I mounted these lens on a Canon Rebel T2i and Canon 5D mark 2. The first lens is a Canon 50mm FD 1.8. This lens is solid and the focusing ring is smooth unlike the EOS 50mm 1.8 version 2. Image-wise I say they are comparable. The only benefit is really a better focusing ring.

Next, the Minolta MD 28mm 2.8. I had nothing else to compare this lens to, so I can't say it's better than the EOS version. Again, rugged build and nice smooth focusing ring. This lens had no chromatic aberration which can occur with wide angle lens.

The Minolta Rokkor X 50mm 1.4. I'm a big fan of bokeh, so this lens really shined in my opinion. At f1.4 it was hard to keep focus of my subject but a pre-planed or staged shot can give any image a professional look.

Olympus 50mm 1.8. While this lens felt solid, the size of the lens made it difficult to adjust focus. Out of all the lens reviewed this was the smallest of all four.

Last but not least the Yashica ML 1.4. This was my favorite out of the four. Shooting at f1.4 was hard to maintain subject matter but the image the lens produce is organic. The image is creamy smooth, almost dreamlike.

Enough of me blabbering, why not just watch the review here:

Jon+Stephanie Vaupel Wedding

Watch the video here:http://vimeo.com/26894175

I really enjoyed shooting Jon and Stephanie's wedding. Such a beautiful couple, each complimenting the other so well.
The White House located in Cottage Grove is a beautiful location, they made a good choice for their venue.

The cinematography i think was great. I used mostly the merlin steadicam and during the ceremony i mounted my 5D mark 2 on a tripod for steady shots. Enjoy the video and these screen shots. Thanks for viewing!
